Our recently launched Schools Technology department has been hard at work advancing collaboration in international education. If data is your jam, you’ll want to consider getting involved. In addition to providing Professional Development opportunities and Community Engagement — and an upcoming Conference — we have also made improvements to ManageBac’s APIs. We are excited to share these details below.
Faria Education Technology Conference: April 6-8, 2022
The Faria Education Technology Conference is a Professional Development opportunity for academic and operations personnel interested in optimizing systems, enhancing pedagogy, and empowering the EdTech community.
Members of our community have offered their expertise on topics with fascinating titles such as:
- “Taking the ‘Tech’ out of Tech Director: Why we must be seen as Leaders”
- “Why don’t people love data?”
- “Data driven decisions: Managebac, BigQuery, and Data Studio”
If you would like to attend our conference, and have access to the videos of these presentations, sign up now!
Virtual Community
Throughout the academic year, we have been hosting a series of events, providing free peer support on some of the more technically challenging aspects of schools technology, including sessions on Systems Analysis, APIs and Data Protection. Our most recent virtual session was on “Actionable Data,” where we explored data’s place in the school, both organizationally and as a pedagogical and academic tool.
Join us for the conversation! We will provide a link to this event, and sign you up for all of our subsequent events.
Personal Learning Community on Discord
Supplementing our regular events, Faria also hosts a chat community on Discord for those who want to share tips and techniques, or ask about best practices.
The purpose of the Personal Learning Community on Discord is to empower practitioners in their usage of technology in International Schools including, but not limited to, Faria’s range of products. The intended audience are those who work at a systems- or infrastructure-level capacity in schools that deploy Faria’s range of products, and for integrators and data managers who also work with such.

API Improvements
Interacting directly with the user community has led to some solid feature requests, and we have delivered! Here is a list of recent improvements to ManageBac’s Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), plus a chance to provide feedback on your school’s API usage in general.
- ”Get Term Grades for a Class” – PYP term grades are now fully retrievable.
- ”Get Attendance for a Class” – You can now determine whether a teacher has successfully taken attendance on the same day.
- ”Get All Grades for a Class during a Term” – Now includes dropbox status.
- ”Get Timetable for Classes” – This new endpoint returns the period information associated with a class
- In addition, a range of endpoints for fully managing student and guardian links.
Navigate to your API manager for full documentation, or see more details in this survey.
OneRoster on the Product Roadmap
We continue to prioritize development and data exchange in ManageBac. Becoming fully compliant with OneRoster will further enable integrations across a range of platforms. If you would like to be on the list to be informed of progress, feel free to sign up here.
