It’s time for the IB updates already! Read on to find out more about the 2025 updates that we at ManageBac are implementing to reflect the developments within the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes.

IB Diploma Programme

The following subjects have had new guides published for first teaching in August 2025:

  • Psychology
  • Visual Arts
  • Design Technology
  • Computer Science
  • Extended Essay

The new and revised syllabus content is now available in ManageBac. You can now adapt your existing Unit Plans or plan afresh with the new syllabus content. Subjects have a one year transition period, so you will find that both last assessment 2026 and first assessment 2027 are now available in the Unit Planner.

The Extended Essay Support will be updated for all students who require it for first teaching in August 2025 with a new improved work-flow to better support students and supervisors.

At least one teacher of these subjects per school is required to undertake IB training on the new syllabus.
You can find a list of courses online and face-to-face on the IB’s professional development website.

IB Careers Programme

The IB has just released updates for the four CP Core Areas. These are:

  • Community Engagement (previously known as Service Learning)
  • Language and Cultural Studies (previously known as Language Development)
  • Reflective Project
  • Personal and Professional Skills.

At ManageBac we are fully across these developments and will be releasing new support for these four CP Core areas this summer for any year groups that will follow the updated guidance. At the moment of writing we are just testing the improvements and checking these with the IB Curriculum Leaders.

The new worksheets will support the CP Core areas and reflect teh updated vocabulary along with additional supportive features.

IB Middle Years Programme

We work closely in partnership with the IB to ensure that ManageBac reflects current IB requirements and also can support IB schools engaging in pilot projects.

In order to support the MYP Enhancement Beta Trial we have designed a new unit planner that you can activate easily. This updated unit planner supports the MYP Beta trial with updated vocabulary and sections. The ATLs language and Descriptors may be updated individually by schools to meet their requirements.

IB Primary Years Programme

Last year we launched the new PYP portfolio which will assist teachers in the documentation of evidence of learning and facilitating school-to-home communication.

The eagle eyed amongst PYP Teachers will have noticed the updated TransDisiplinary Theme descriptions and Language in the PYP unit planner.

We are studying carefully the new PYP Subject Guidance and will implement that soon to allow PYP teachers to prepare over the summer for next August.
