The International Baccalaureate (IB) regularly releases updates to subject guides and other guidance material to ensure its programmes are aligned with the latest pedagogical research and practice recommendations. Here at ManageBac, we are committed to ensuring that your learning platform reflects current IB requirements and, with that in mind, we have a number of changes to share with you this summer.
IB Diploma Programme
The following subjects have had new guides published for first teaching in August 2024:
- Environmental Systems and Societies (now also available at HL)
- Sports Exercise and Health Science
- Global Politics
- Marine Science
The new and revised syllabus content is now available in ManageBac. You can now adapt your existing Unit Plans or plan afresh with the new syllabus content. For subjects that have a transition period, you will find that both last assessment 2025 and first assessment 2026 are now available in the Unit Planner.

IB Middle Years Programme
We work closely in partnership with the IB to ensure that ManageBac reflects current IB requirements and also can support IB schools engaging in pilot projects, such as the recent DP CAS pilot. With that in mind, we will be offering support to schools engaging with MYP developments over the coming year. Contact the IB or consult MyIB to learn more. Reach out to support@managebac.com should you wish to learn more about how ManageBac can help.
IB Primary Years Programme
The ManageBac curriculum team has been delighted to work with schools and students to understand more about the needs of PYP schools with regard to student portfolios. We are excited to have been part of the development of a new PYP portfolio which will assist teachers in the documentation of evidence of learning and facilitating school-to-home communication.
Portfolios and Journalling: A Whole-School Approach
We are working closely with the IB to ensure the evolution of the PYP over time is accurately reflected in the ManageBac unit planners. This summer, new transdisciplinary theme descriptors have been added for new units and existing units.
Well-Being Support and Student Transition Care
As the world takes ever greater notice of the issues surrounding transitions-care, mental health and well-being, ManageBac has a bank of resources and support available for schools as they develop their programmes. In particular, we have been proud to partner with Safe Passage Across Networks to provide a complete guide to transitions-care in international schools, including how you can welcome new students to your community this summer. Find this and other key resources in our Resource Library.
In addition, we would like to highlight the brand new Social and Emotional Learning & Child Protection Standards and Benchmarks for International Schools developed with support from ICMEC and CASEL in partnership with international educators. These can be accessed via the ManageBac Unit Planner Standards and Benchmarks to allow easier planning of a comprehensive well-being and safeguarding programme. For guidance on how to add standards then please follow this help article Adding Standards as an Administrator – ManageBac.
